“Solar Wind” is an audiovisual project by the Kyiv-based duo of visual artist Volodymyr Khomenko and composer Alexey Shmurak. Science fiction, conspiracy theories, mystical perception of natural wonders, gnostic or alchemical attempts to create a new person, the boundaries of human possibilities are combined in an immersive video created with the help of AI. The sound of the project is intense, magical, as if listening to itself; its genre can be attributed to drone, noise, experimental electronics and modern classical music.

Khomenko and Shmurak together create performative, audiovisual and exhibition projects; they jointly develop the mythology and internal logic of their lore. The duo is interested in such subjects as mockumentary, speculative history, the boundaries of corporeality and human identity, scientific research. The mood of their projects can be described as a combination of phlegm, magic and sarcasm.

“Solar Wind” was commissioned by the M17 Contemporary Art Center (Kyiv) in May 2025.
