Peeping / Zine

“Peeping” is the second zine in the Intimate Publics series, devoted to the different forms intimacy takes in public space. The photographs were taken in the Kyiv metro, where the privacy of someone else’s screen rests solely on a silent agreement not to look. Hristina Novykova deliberately breaks that agreement, recording whatever happens to fall into view: AI kittens wishing good morning, horoscopes about toxic women, someone’s flirting in an online game, video sermons. Together the frames form an archive of the recurring images and formats through which private life surfaces today.

The title refers to the peep show — an attraction built around a controlled act of looking in. Turning the pages, the reader repeats the very gesture that made the zine possible. Below are the pages of the printed issue and its page on the IDINAHUI PUBLISHING site.
